With all the rain we’ve been having lately, we thought it would be a good time to talk about Umbrella and Flood coverage.

Just like an umbrella covers you from the elements, Umbrella insurance provides additional liability coverage over the primary liability limit on your auto, home, and watercraft policies. Umbrella coverage applies when your primary policy doesn’t provide sufficient liability protection.

For example, your auto policy liability limit is $300,000. If you have an accident and are liable for $700,000, your auto policy would only cover $300,000 leaving you responsible for $400,000.  If you had $1,000,000 in umbrella coverage, the umbrella policy would cover the remaining $400,000.

Did you know that Homeowner and Renter insurance policies exclude damage caused by flooding? Now is the time to get Flood insurance since there is a 30-day waiting period before coverage goes into effect.  Don’t wait until hurricane season starts to get coverage, by then it may be too late.

Umbrella and Flood insurance are very affordable. Call us for more information and get a free quote.
